2.12.10 Power line still has one step left

The second of three major approvals was granted Thursday for the contested Susquehanna-Roseland power line, and now only the National Park Service stands in the way of the project.

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities granted PSE&G permission to upgrade the New Jersey portion of the transmission line. The Pennsylvania Utility Commission gave similar approval last month.

Now the park service must determine whether it will allow PPL Electric Utilities (in Pennsylvania) and PSE&G (in New Jersey) to expand rights of way and build the $510 million electric transmission line through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
